Sligo Development
Plan outlines future Urban Regeneration of the Dockland Area. Sligo
and its Environs has abundant Natural Attractions and Amenities and
a number of sites of Major Megalithic and Mythological
Importance. The North West lacks a Major
Urban Tourist facility which complements this array of attractions
.
Project
Description
Proposed Museum of Ancient
Celtic Heritage to house Megalithic Artifacts and to provide a
Visitor Center showcasing Celtic Mythology to the
World. Envisaged as an extension to the Gateway Tower, the
facility is intended to strengthen the 'Atlantic Way' route for
tourists from establised markets - USA, UK and
Europe.
Ideally the Building would be of International
Significance and would draw Visitors from new Tourism markets such
as Asia and the Middle East. It would serve as a Regional base for
complimentary attractions ie. Ceide Fields.
The Form of the building references the
arrangement of a Dolmen or other Megalithic Cluster. Revenue
opportunities for Local Authorities, and employment from spin off
tourism ventures are possible. Aerial Map by Google / Digital
